Living with a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer!

The Vauxhall Zafira has always been one of the most popular MPV's on the market, and we have been no exception. Coming from a 2009 Insignia we were first introduced to the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer in 2012. At this point the Zafira Tourer was a fairly new vehicle to the Vauxhall range. Personally, I'm not a massive fan of MPV's in general, and I definitely think that the Zafira Tourer hasn't changed this, however it is a definite improvement over the older style Zafira which we had before the Insignia.

We have now had two Zafira Tourer's with pretty much identical specification - even down too the colour. We ended up getting our new car just before the new version (pictured above) was released, which was really quite annoying as it seemed to have a completely redesigned infotainment system. However, we didn't get that model so there is no point in dwelling on the past. Compared to the 2012 model, the 2016 model had a few minor differences - for example a completely redesigned sat nav and OnStar connectivity. However, that is just about all of the differences from the two models.

Long Journeys in the Zafira.
Having travelled multiple long journeys in the Zafira I would be able to safely comment that it is just about acceptable. The seats aren't hugely comfortable in the central row, however they are quite a lot better in the front two seats. I would, however, strongly suggest people do not sit in the rear two seats of the Zafira for longer journeys; small children may just about be able to cope but the leg room is poor and the head room isn't amazing either.

The Zafira does win back some points by doing particular things well. These things include the central arm rest which folds down from the middle seat (however this obviously cannot be used when there are three passengers), the reasonably sized door bins and the great head room for passengers in the central row.

OnStar.
OnStar is a wonderful service, it provides you with WiFi in the car, can connect you too an OnStar representative and can report your car to the police if it is involved in an accident or is stolen. We are planning on doing a full review on OnStar very soon so keep your eye on this space!

The OnStar Buttons On The New Insignia.
To conclude, I do believe that the Zafira Tourer (2012 & 16) is a good motorway cruiser and MPV, however if like me you aren’t hugely keen on MPV’s the Zafirs tourer is likely not too change your mind on that vehicle range. If you are looking at getting a brand new Zafira then definitely shortlist it in your buying decisions as it is a good contender.
